Award Winning Composer and Pianist
Michael Errington is an Anglo-French composer who has worked on a variety of film and television projects. In addition, he has given concert performances all around the world, including solo recitals in Los Angeles, Cannes, Munich, and Berlin. His soundtrack for the highly acclaimed independent film “The Art Of Passion” (aka “Unconditional Love” won the Golden Starfish Award at Steven Spielberg’s Hampton’s Film Festival, where he and the films director Arthur Egeli was presented with the trophy by Grammy Award Winning Producer/Composer Quincy Jones . In the Los Angeles Times’ review of The Art of Passion, critic Kevin Thomas cited Mr. Errington’s score as “helping the film soar with ethereal beauty while adding a touching level of intimacy.”
In addition, the film was the recipient of the Gold Award at the Houston International Film Festival and a prize winner at the New York Film Festival. He also composed the soundtrack for the award-winning documentary, “The Lost World of the Crystal Skull”, which was named Best Feature Documentary at the Mexico International Film Festival as well as the Waterford Film Festival in Ireland where the jury gave him a special ‘Musical Commendation’ for his score.
Studies at the University of Southern California School of Cinema and Television music programme, where he studied under Oscar-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith and Emmy – winning Basil Poledouris , Michael Errington went on to play Piano for world famous singer Kate Bush. In addition, he played piano for the legendary group Toto, where he played for David Paich and Jeff and Mike Procaro, He has also worked with Icehouse, Barclay James Harvest, and performed for Stevie Wonder.
Over the past decade, Mr Errington has gained a large following in Germany following impressive performances at the Munich Film Festival where he gave a solo piano recital of his music at the Gasteig Concert Hall in honour of actress Jacqueline Bisset who was being presented with the CineMerit lifetime achievement award by Maximilian Schell.
His live performance of his “All Is Forgiven” album and selections from his film scores was broadcast by Germany’s ZDF television network. Mr. Errington has also been honoured with the “The One Future Prize” by the Munich Film Festival in recognition of his “outstanding musical contribution.”
Mr. Errington is also active in a variety of charitable causes. During the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), he gave a solo concert in honour of American movie stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for their party at the Cinema for Peace fundraising event. In 2015, Mr. Errington performed a live piano concert at the Cannes Film Festival where he played several unreleased piano compositions for his new album “All Is Forgiven” on behalf of The Heart Fund & Generous People charity ball organised by French heart surgeon Dr. David Luu. The event was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Carlton Hotel and saw Oscar-nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Paris Hilton attending Mr. Errington Concert to the assembled dignitaries and donours.
Mr. Errington is a Member of BAFTA LA (The British Academy Of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles) and divides his time between Cannes, France, and Los Angeles, USA.
